There are many mutual funds in Hong Kong and other countries that are investing in Chinese equities. Those funds may invest in Chinese companies listed in HKEx or other foreign exchanges such as NYSE and NASDAQ. They may also invest directly within China to the A or B Shares, as a Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII). QFII is a mechanism used by Chinese government to allow foreign capital to participate in China's stock market, under the current situation when the Chinese currency RMB is not fully convertible.
