Structure of P. R. China Central Government

The structure of P. R. China central government is composed of 4 major parts: the State Council is the administration organization responsible for the daily operation of the nation; the National People's Congress (NPC) is the law making body for the nation; the law enforcement organizations include the judicial system and the persecution system; the Central Military Commission (CMC) is in charge of the entire armed forces in the country. All the above organizations are under the control of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) is the patriotic united front of the Chinese people.

The State Council can also be called the Central People's Government, is the central administrative organ of China . The reform of the State Council's organizational structure was carried out in 1998. And from then on, it kept its structure unchanged till now, composed of the General Affairs Office, 28 ministries and commissions (including the People' Bank of China and the National Auditing Office), 17 directly affiliated organs and 7 working offices, in addition to a number of directly administered institutions.

The Constitution stipulates the total and highest position of National People's Congress (NPC) in formulating and revising the Constitution, electing members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) , examining and approving the plan for national economic and social development, etc. Each term of the National People's Congress (NPC) has a period limit of 5 years. The plenary session of the National People's Congress (NPC) is held once every year or at any time under special circumstances. Deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) are members forming the highest organ of state power to be elected from the provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and the armed forces.

The people's courts are the trial organs of the state. The trial system consists of the Supreme People's Court, local people's courts and special people's courts such as the military court. The people's procuratorates are the legal supervision organs of the state. The prosecution system consists of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, local people's procuratorates and special people's procuratorates such as the military procuratorate.

The Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China is the highest state military organ with the responsibility of commanding the entire armed forces in the country. Led by a chairman and consisting of vice chairmen and members, the Commission is elected for a term of five years and can stand for reelection.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) is the party in power in the country. The Communist Party of China (CPC) has both central and local organizations. At the top is the Central Committee and, while when it is not in session, the Political Bureau and its Standing Committee exercise the power of the Central Committee. Both the Political Bureau and its Standing Committee are elected by the plenary session of the Central Committee.

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is a united front organization under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and an organ for various other political parties, mass organizations and personages of various social circles to take part in the running of the state.
