A child prodigy, Wang went to university at 15, then worked for the State Council in Beijing. In 1988 he and his partner raised $6,000 and set up UFSOFT, Chinese for "users' friend," in China's Silicon Valley, Zhongguan Village in Beijing. The company has been a leader of the accounting software market for the past 11 years. In May 2001, Wang became the first private high-tech company to float its own shares in China. Rather than list abroad, Wang was determined to list where his main market is--China. The crowds loved it: Yongyou's opening price of RMB 36.7 was the highest ever, and Yongyou was the first company to hit RMB 100 on the first day of trading. Wang is a deputy to the National People's Congress.
