China Huadian Group Corporation is a state-owned enterprise approved by the State Council and established on the basis of a sum of enterprises and institutions formerly owned by State Power Corporation of China .

As a pilot state-owned Corporation approved and an entity authorized by the State Council to conduct state-authorized investment, China Huadian was established on December 29, 2002, and its registered capital totaled 12 billion Yuan RMB. By the end of 2004, the total assets of China Huadian reached RMB 119.7 billion Yuan and the total installed capacity in operation had reached 30.79 GW.
