Brief History
Nanjing University is a national key university with a long history. And its history is the course of combination of its former schools.
Innitially, it was established as a small school with the name of Huiwen School in 1888. In 1910, it combined with other two schools: Chris School (1891) and Yizhi School (1894). And the new school had a name of Jinlin University. Later in 1952, Jinlin University was combined with National Nanjin University (1949), and the new university's name was Nanjing University, the present university we can all see today.
